Sitting on Corfu's south coast, Messonghi is an uncomplicated
kind of place. Life revolves round that classic combination of sun, sea and sand that makes the Greek Islands so popular – the beach of Messonghi. Cue a long sweep of golden sand and shingle, turquoise sea and a full menu of watersports. What's more, the shore shelves so gently into the sea that it's shallow enough for even tiny tots to paddle.
There's not much of a town centre to speak of, just a handful of souvenir shops, a supermarket and a bakery. That said, there are a few of restaurants here to tempt you off the sand. Cutsey local tavernas wrapped in vines offer an escape from the midday sun.
